Where to Drink Specialty Coffee in Tarragona
My favourite specialty coffee shops in Tarragona, from Olo Café in the Old Town to the brand-new Nicoffee.
☕ Olo Café ⭐ My favourite
The newest and, in my view, the best specialty coffee shop in Tarragona. It’s right in the heart of the Old Town. They use their own house-roasted beans, roasted nearby in El Vendrell.
Be sure to try:
- classic espresso and filter coffee;
- a large selection of cold coffee drinks;
- matcha;
- tasty sandwiches and pastries.
There’s also a very pleasant terrace in the Old Town — a perfect spot for breakfast or a short break during a walk.
☕ Casa Quadrat
The first specialty coffee shop in the Old Town. It played a big role in getting specialty coffee culture going in Tarragona’s historic centre.
I especially recommend the milk-based drinks — they use farm-sourced Catalan milk supplied specifically for coffee shops, which brings out the coffee’s flavour beautifully.
Also worth trying: signature sandwiches; breakfasts and brunches; in the evening, natural Spanish wines from small producers.
☕ Odila Specialty Coffee
A small, cosy coffee shop with excellent specialty coffee and a very friendly atmosphere. A great spot for a quality coffee as you pass through the city centre.
☕ Nicoffee
The newest specialty coffee shop in the city, opened in summer 2026.
I especially recommend the matcha and the signature coffee drinks. The barista trained and worked alongside a Ukrainian barista. To me that’s a good sign of quality, since Ukrainian coffee culture is considered one of the strongest in Europe today.
